Many virtual events and small group in-person activities are being offered by Jersey City and the New Jersey City Department of Recreation and Youth Development during these late summer months.
Several “pop-up” activities for small groups are being offered in eight parks in the city, as well as online professional development programs. Mayor Steven Fulop said that his team has been looking to provide more unconventional ways so that the city’s youth can take advantage of both educational and recreational activities. More information is often provided about such activities with flyer printing.
Among the eight parks offering pop-up activities are Jones Park, Ercel Webb Park, Berry Lane Park, and Mary Benson Park. There are staff from the Division of Recreation at these parks at specific times during the day and they help people with various skills in such sports as tennis, soccer, baseball, and basketball. They are also offering fitness strength and conditioning, and dancercise, for which people need to bring their own equipment.
Free professional development is also being offered to high school students and those up to the age of 24. These professional development days are held online and focus on career and college readiness programs. Other professional development courses include public speaking and elevator pitches, mock interviews with professionals, and career and scholastic interests, among others.
