Jersey City looks to construct new apartment complex

HAP Investments based in New York City is looking to build a new park and high-rise apartment building in Jersey City, about a half-mile from the Journal Square PATH station.

The complex would feature a building 42 stories high with 902 residential units if agreed on by the Jersey City Redevelopment Agency (JCRA). It would also include a one-acre park that would run from Baldwin Avenue to Summit Avenue parallel to the PATH railway and a community center spanning 8,500 square feet. Such plans can often be better visualized for the public with maps made by a local Print shop.

A principal of CentraRuddy Architecture, Theresa Genovese, said that there would also be a dog run and pedestrian footpath, as well as a playground and an open-air terrace with exterior seating. The community center will have an information desk and a large glass façade, with flexible community spaces that could be used for meetings, classes, culture, and art.

The plan also shows that the center would accommodate the natural grade of the landscape by being built into the base of a hill. Directly over the roof of the structure will be a walkway and seating. There will also be an environmental buffer between the outdoor portion of the property and the train tracks, with retailers along the sidewalk that passes through the park.
