Owners of the Malibu Diner on 14th Street in Hoboken plan to demolish the standalone diner and construct a five-story multiuse building.
The plans, created by MVK Architecture, propose two storefronts on the ground floor, and 23 residential units with four three-bedroom unity, 11 two-bedrooms units, and eight one-bedrooms units. Select units would have Juliet balconies. It is planned that the Malibu Diner would move into one of the storefronts.
There would also be an outdoor space of 2,500 square feet on top of the one-story building and a common roof deck topped with a green roof that will be 1,600 square feet in size on top of the five-story structure. The building will have a modern look with modular brick and aluminum cladding.
A new coffee shop is also under construction on the corner of Willow Avenue in Hoboken. Banner printing shows that the Mojo Coffee Company will be occupying the space when building has finished.
Life Pancake Company will be moving into what was the Brownstone Diner in Jersey City and under the same ownership as the Brownstone Diner. An application has been made by the American Pancake Company Inc. with the Board of Alcoholic Beverage Control, as it wants its liquor license to be transferred. There are no further details about opening dates or the menu to be served.
