Two contracts have been awarded to Millennium Communications Group by the Jersey City Municipal Council.
These contracts will be used to upgrade technology to allow critical information to be safely transmitted at the City Hall Annex and the new Public Safety Center on MLK Drive.
The amount of $625,860 will go towards purchase, delivery, and installation at the new public safety building of two fiber rings. James Shea, Public Safety Director, said the fiber rings will enable sensitive data to be securely transmitted to and from the building. Upgrades of some of the communication systems in the city hall annex will be part of the second contract.
Residents of cities are often informed of such upgrades and improvements with Posters created by local Print shops displayed throughout a community.
Steven Fulop, mayor of Jersey City said that it was his idea in 2015 to build a new annex to City Hall on MLK Drive as opposed to renting office space, as the latter option would have been expensive in downtown Jersey City. He added that because of this, the city now has its own buildings into which investments can be made and more employees can be hired.
These improvements are the last ones that will be undertaken in the new public safety building before it opens in the next few months.
