Upcoming events mean Freehold will be the place to be this March.
First is the Freehold Borough Arts Council (FBAC) St. Patrick’s Day Parade, with Grand Marshal Tom Hayes, and Community Grand Marshal Bill Madden. Among the activities are contests for best dressed motorcycle, bicycle, adult, dog, and baby.
Sandwiches, platters, and corned beef will be available for sale at several locations, and the Junkyard Dogs and the Eddie Testa Band will perform.
Also in March is the Flavor of Freehold, where participants stroll throughout Downtown Freehold and stop in at various shops, bars, and restaurants, where they can enjoy samples from participating merchants. In the past, participants have included Picosol Mexican Grill, Shloka, and Freehold Body Care. “Shamrock Passports” will guide people to merchants taking part.
The festivities wind up with the Irish Week Pub Crawl 2023. Four establishments on East Main Street—the Metropolitan Café, Court Jester, Federici’s, and the American Hotel—will offer tastings of Scotch or beer as “crawlers” listen to bagpipers.
The parade is scheduled for March 12, with participants lining up at 11:30 am on West Main Street, and the parade itself stepping off at 12.30 pm. Flavor of Freehold is March 15, from 5:30 pm until 8:00 pm, and the pub crawl is March 16 from 8:00 pm until 10:00 pm. Organizes of events like this can create “Shamrock Passports” and other handouts by using flyer printing.
