Freehold plans a week of fun

The City of Freehold is planning to pack a whole week full of fun to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.

First up during the week is the Flavor of Freehold, which organizers are promoting as two days of pure pleasure for those interested in all things food. People taking part in this event have a “Shamrock Passport” which guides them as they visit participating shops, bars, and restaurants. These establishments will give signature samples of their products to those taking part in the Flavor of Freehold celebration. Bagpipers will be on hand to make the event even more festive for St Patrick’s Day. Organizers of events like this will often work with banner printing services to create decorations for outdoor use.

The week’s main event is the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. This year’s parade Grand Marshal is Terri O’Connor, and the Community Grand Marshal is Dru-Anne McLane Palaima. A delegation from County Kildare and Rathangan in Ireland are the honorary guests.

Live entertainment will be found at various venues throughout Freehold. Among the bands scheduled to appear are the Eddie Testa Band, Mail Order Bride, and D.J. Duke.

Flavor of Freehold is scheduled for March 12 and 13, with tickets going for $25.00. The parade is due to take place on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17. Units will assemble at McLean Street beginning at 11.30am, and the parade will start an hour later.
