David Wax Museum is the husband-and-wife duo Suz Slezak and David Wax, a self-styled “Mexo-Americana” band. Based in Charlottesville, Virginia, they toured internationally for 14 years, building their reputation. They were sidelined by the pandemic in 2020, and have enjoyed taking a break from their demanding schedule.
The band found success in 2019, when they released “Line of Light” on Nine Mile Records, an award-winning Austin label. They made their debut on national television when they appeared on “CBS This Morning: Saturday,” and were featured on NPR’s “World Café.” In 2021, their ballad “Big Sur” was used in the Netflix series “Firefly Lane.”
They were working on a new album when the pandemic struck. Stuck at home, Suz rekindled her love of gardening while David turned their attic into a performance space. From there, they began live-streaming performances to various social media platforms. The enforced absence from the road allowed them to self-release “Euphoric Ouroboric,” the first time the band experimented with DIY recording at home. They recently released their eighth album, “Remember My Future.”
The Guardian praised Euphoric Ouroboric, saying:
“Global crossover at its best . . . This could be [an] . . . unexpected hit . . .”
David Wax Museum will appear at The Studio in Freehold on April 9. Poster printing is a great way for organizers of events like this to create publicity for the performance.
