Flemington recently observed Memorial Day with a variety of activities planned to help honor those who served their country.
The day started off with a parade that formed at 9:15 in the morning in the parking lot located in the front of the building that was formerly the area’s Reebok outlet. The senior veterans who took part gathered beforehand at the American Legion on Route 31 where they were treated to a ride in an antique car for the event.
The procession wound its way from Church Street , then Main Street and paused at the reviewing stand constructed at a location in front of the old courthouse before winding up at the Veterans Monument which stands at the end of Main Street.
Along with the former military members, local emergency vehicles were included, as well as marching bands and the boy scouts. A banner printing company can create Banners and decorations that can help to pay homage to those who performed military service.
After the march was completed, a ceremony was held at the monument with Mark Spildooren as the master of ceremonies and several guest speakers taking part as well.
The Veteran’s alliance encouraged all vets to take part in the parade and to walk or ride with pride even if they are not a member of any formal veterans’ association.
