Tribute to classic band scheduled near Londonderry

Fans of Steely Dan will soon have a chance to hear the music they love once again.

Hey Nineteen-A Tribute to Steely Dan is coming to the Tupelo Music Hall in Derry, a few minutes from Londonderry. The eleven-member group has been praised as having the most faithful-sounding renditions of Steely Dan’s music of any group performing tributes today.

Based in New England, Hey Nineteen regularly tours the East Coast. The group comprises gifted professional musicians, including many who have shared the stage or recording studio with international stars and Grammy winners. The band performs Steely Dan’s smash hits, but also does deep cuts into the entire catalog. Audiences can expect to hear everything from “Reelin’ in the Years” to “Pretzel Logic,” performed as first recorded.

A review of a live performance says:

“The very best live versions of the recorded music of Steely Dan you will hear anywhere, and I suspect as good or better than Steely Dan themselves.”

Walter Becker and Donald Fagan founded Steely Dan in 1971 in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York. They had a backing band but chose to stop live performances in 1974 and moved to working as a duo in the studio, though they often worked with session musicians on specific projects. Their 1977 album “Aja” won a Grammy.

The show is scheduled for March 7 at 7.00 pm. When scheduling shows like this, venues often promote them with colorful Posters, which they can order at local Print shops.
