A workshop that will help people learn the skill of self-love will take place in Derry, only a few minutes from Londonderry.
Karen Bentley is the host of The Love Experience, where she will teach people the skill of self-love; the idea that people can fall deeply in love with themselves. The concept is not one of ego or bragging or considering oneself better than others, but about learning to see oneself as a worthy individual capable of running their own life.
The experience has four goals, the first of which is to develop a fresh understanding of what being a “loving being” means, and how this understanding helps people conduct themselves and make what might be life-changing decisions.
The second is for attendees to recognize what they want, noting that it is not selfish to identify the things that make one happy.
The third goal is to learn seven skills for remaining loving even in difficult circumstances. Bentley notes that is easy to be kind when things are going well, but far more difficult to remain caring and compassionate when people are being mean, or life is not going as desired.
The final goal is to learn how to give and receive love, which requires being open and honest – something many people find difficult.
The Love Experience is this Saturday, December 2, from 8:30 am until 4:30 pm, at the Marion Gerrish Community Center at 39 West Broadway in Derry. Organizers of events like this can use flyer printing to create handouts for attendees.
