Ready to rock near Londonderry

A rock band from Los Angeles will perform soon in Derry, no doubt encouraging fans from nearby Londonderry to attend.

Mr. Big first got together in 1988 in LA, with the original lineup comprising drummer Pat Torpey, bassist Billy Sheehan, guitarist Paul Gilbert, and lead vocalist Eric Martin. Their major hits were “Just Take My Heart,” and 1992’s single, “To Be with You,” which hit the number one spot on the charts in 15 countries.

Mr. Big was most popular during the late 1980s and 1990s, when they dropped four studio albums. In 1989, they released “Mr. Big,” and followed it with 1991’s “Lean Into It.” “Bump Ahead” came in 1993, and “Hey Man” in 1996. After a lineup change, the band dropped “Get Over It” in 1999 and “Actual Size” in 2001. The group broke up in 2002.

In 2009, Mr. Big answered call from fans to reunite and returned with the original lineup intact. They went on to release three more albums: “What If . . .” in 2010, “The Stories We Could Tell” in 2014, and their final album, 2017’s “Defying Gravity.”

A review says:

“Mr. Big is back!! . . . loved hearing the classics . . . Very impressive. Will not hesitate to see them live again.”

Mr. Big will be at the Tupelo Music Hall in Derry on Wednesday, February 7, where they will play the 1991 album “Lean Into It” in its entirety. Organizers of concerts like this will often use poster printing to create advertising for them.
