An event coming up near Londonderry promises to be fun as well as nostalgic.
The Tupelo Music Hall in Derry, a short distance from Londonderry, is the venue for the program “The British Invasion Years.” The “British Invasion” refers to a cultural phenomenon that occurred in the 1960s, when bands from the UK came to the United States, where they had a tremendous influence on the culture.
The performance will include songs by British groups such as The Moody Blues, The Who, the Rolling Stones, and many others. Bobby M, one of the musicians, says:
“We’ve always had a large fan base because of the wide variety of music and nostalgic aspect of our show.”
He explains that thanks to the popularity of Beatles Rock Band, a game, and the success of the Fab Four, a Beatles tribute band heard on Spotify and iTunes, this music is popular again.
The invasion is also notable for the response from the music industry in America, where bands like The Mamas and The Papas, Steppenwolf, The Beach Boys, and many more, rose as an answer to the British bands. The show ends with a finale featuring the band that started the whole thing, The Beatles.
The British Invasion Years is scheduled for November 23 at the Tupelo Music Hall. When they need publicity for events like this, organizers may decide to work with a printer who will use poster printing to create advertising.
