A celebration of community is coming up in Londonderry.
Governor Frank Rollins established Londonderry Old Home Day in 1899 to help stop the decline of the small New Hampshire town. Everyone was invited to what was a town reunion to meet newcomers and reconnect with their community. This year’s party is expected to draw more than 12,000 people.
The event spans four days, and includes concerts, fireworks, games, and of course, food trucks. The first day brings Senior Bingo at 4:00 pm, a BBQ for seniors at 5:00 pm, and a Concert on the Common at 7:00 pm. On the second day, a Battle of the Bands runs from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm.
On the third day, the Police and Fire Departments of both Londonderry and Derry will play a softball game starting at 5:00 pm, with food trucks on hand from 6:00 pm until 9:30 pm. The Scott Spradling Band plays at 7:00 pm, with fireworks starting at about 9:15 pm.
The last day brings a baby contest at 8:30 am, and the Old Home Day Parade at 10:15 am. From 11:45 am until 4:00 pm, booths will be set up on the green, and the whole festival ends at 6:30 pm with the “Millennium Running Boot Scootin’ Boogie 5K and Beer Fest.”
The event is scheduled for August 16, 17, 18, and 19. Banners are perfect decorations for outdoor events like this, and they can be created using banner printing.
