Indie rock band to perform near Londonderry

An alternative, indie rock group is coming to the Tupelo Music Hall in Derry, a short distance from Londonderry.

Indie rock quintet Carbon Leaf is based in Richmond, Virginia, and is known for an infusion of folk, Celtic, and alt-country genres into its sound. Like most musical groups, the line-up has changed over the years. The band first got together in 1992, and three of its founding members – Terry Clark, Carter Gravatt, and Barry Privett – are still playing. The other two members are Jesse Humphrey, who joined in 2017, and Jon Markel, who joined in 2008.

Carbon Leaf’s biggest hit was “Life Less Ordinary,” which they dropped in 2004. The song went to No. 5 on Billboard’s Adult Alternative charts. They have gone on to release 16 studio albums. Their 2018 release, “The Gathering, Volume I,” is the first in a series, and they just completed “Gathering 2: The Hunting Ground.” According to Barry Privett, the band’s frontman, the series is about building community:

“It’s . . . an invitation to reach out and embrace the gifts of human connection.”

The second album in the series explores pain, anger, loss, and grief, with arrangements to match. The result is a work that confronts doubt and darkness directly, leading to self-discovery and healing.

The concert is set for December 3. The Tupelo Music Hall is at 10 A Street in Derry. To create effective advertising for events like these, organizers can turn to poster printing.
