The North Carolina Division of Parks and Recreation will be hosting an Introduction to Stand-Up Paddle Boarding class later this month at Falls Lake State Recreation Area. Residents of Youngsville will not want to miss this special event.
During the class, attendees will learn the basic skills of paddle boarding, which include correct paddle strokes, getting on and off safely, and other considerations when paddling. Such classes are often promoted throughout an area with poster printing.
There is no charge for the class, but registration is required. There may be a fee of $7 for parking. The needed equipment for the class will be provided, ranging from the paddles to lifejackets. The class will be led by Sean Higgins and Ben Herman and is recommended for those 12 years of age and older.
There are seven areas surrounding the shoreline of the undeveloped reservoir at Falls Lake, which spans 12,000 acres. Four of the access areas offer 300 campsites and a range of outdoor experiences from primitive tent camping to RV hook-ups. The recreation area also offers a network of mountain bike trails, hiking trails, beaches for swimming, a lake for fishing, and boating ramps.
The class will be held tomorrow, August 25, from 5:00 to 5:30 pm has been made possible by the Friends of State Parks.
