New funding to help local students boost workforce skills

Funding has been provided by the State Employees Credit Union (SECU) Foundation so that 30 non-degree students from Wake Tech Community College in Raleigh will be able to receive a $500 Bridge to Career scholarship.

This may appeal to students from nearby Youngsville who are attending the college.

The scholarships will support those students who are eligible and who register for non-degree, accelerated courses in eight areas, among which are information and digital technology, hospitality and personal services, health care and wellness, construction and maintenance, and business. Local Print shops often assist in providing more details about such scholarships and the eligibility requirements with Flyers and other printed materials.

Vice president of Workforce Continuing Education at Wake Tech, Anthony Caison, expressed his gratitude towards the support of the SECU Foundation for the non-degree students at the college who are looking for some short-term training in order to prepare for the workforce. Caison added that this training will help them to find a promising career.

Jama Campbell, Executive Director of the SECU Foundation, said these scholarships are an important aspect of the offerings of the foundation, adding that they provide support for those looking for work in a trade industry with high demand, or for those who are looking to enhance their skills in order to advance their career.
