Wake Forest University President and Beckman Young Investigator Awardee of 1996, Dr. Susan R. Wente, has been appointed as a member of the Board of Directors of the Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation.

Dr. Wente earned a PhD in biochemistry from the University of California, Berkeley, and in 1996, while at Washington University in St. Louis, was named a Beckman Young Investigator Awardee for her study of a novel genetic and microscopic strategy to define the pathway of the complex assembly of nuclear pores.
