The recently held Battle of the Breweries Blood Drive saw plenty of people go home with prizes and beer tokens, although the real winners of this event are those whose lives will be saved.
The event brought in breweries from all over Cape Fear including Wilmington. That brought in a large audience, and people who attended were given the opportunity to donate blood to the American Red Cross. As part of the event, the donors were given a chance to vote for their favorite breweries while they waited to donate blood. Out of the 16 breweries that partnered with Red Cross for this event, Waterline Brewery won the award for fan favorite.
Waterline was not the only one that left with something good. Each donor was gifted with a free T-shirt and a small token that could be exchanged for a pint of free beer at least 24 hours after donating. Branded T-Shirts are a highly effective form of marketing when used as Promotional Products.
More than 100 people made blood donations. By the end of the day, the Red Cross had managed to collect 117 units of blood, which is enough to positively impact the lives of 351 people. The Red Cross was especially happy with this haul because there had been a concerning shortage of blood donations this past winter.
