Hard-to-find tree species are being made available for sale throughout October as a means of raising funds by the Friends of the New Hanover County Arboretum.
Wilmington residents who have marveled at some of the unique trees contained at the arboretum in our city now have a chance to purchase one of these trees that are difficult to find species.
Several types of trees have been selected by the professionals at the arboretum for their suitability for this area of North Carolina and have arranged to make them available to the public. As fall is the best time of year for tree planting, orders will be accepted throughout October for delivery in early November. The tree will be delivered to home from a regional wholesale nursery.
Printing services can provide identification tags and instructions for items being sold.
Among the trees being offered for sale are the Paperbark Maple, Weeping Blue Atlas Cedar, Persian Spire Ironwood, Scarlet Curls Willow, Long Regal Prince Oak, “Jim Wilson” Sweet Bay Magnolia and the Cascade Falls Weeping Bald Cypress.
The arboretum is open every day 8 am to 5 pm if people want to preview what their tree will look like when its matured. For best selection it is advised that people order as soon as possible. Delivery cost is $50 per tree for non-members. Friends of the Arboretum enjoy free delivery. Orders can be placed online.
