Entry-level construction job course held in Clinton

Sampson Community College in Clinton is set to host a single-day certification course in being a work zone flagger.

Should a person successfully complete the course, they would become eligible for entry-level road construction jobs. The course includes state-approved training designed to equip people with the knowledge to safely guide traffic while active work zones are on the road.

The training includes flagging procedures made with safety standards according to state and national guidelines for a field of work that is considered to be in high demand.

The course is being taught by Heavy Equipment Instructor Ashley Grimes and WD&CE Support Specialist Katelyn O’Neal.

The fee for the course is less than $80 with no prerequisites required.

During National Work Zone Awareness Week earlier this year, the North Carolina Department of Transportation held a major press conference highlighting the importance of work zone safety across the nation. At the time, NCDOT announced an initiative to increase safety for work zones by making drivers more aware by using off-duty law enforcement officers.

Vocational classes like this may choose to use graphic design services to create a learning schedule or promotion in print and online.

The Work Zone Flagger One-Day Certification Course is being held on August 5 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Sampson Community College at 1801 Sunset Ave. in Clinton.
