The Northwest Montana History Museum in Kalispell has announced the 24th edition of its John White Series for 2026.
Such special and unique talks can be promoted throughout a region with poster printing.
The first talk will be by Diane Boyd, titled “Wolves: Reality, Myths, and Madness.” In this inaugural talk of the series, Boyd has spent more than 40 years studying these animals and will share her experience as a researcher, and discuss her perceptions and knowledge. Her talk will be this Sunday, January 18th.
Kira Powell will present the second talk covering “Fire Lookouts: A Peek into the Past of Structures for Fire Spotters.” Powell’s presentation will explore the rich history of the forest lookouts in the area, the ongoing challenges and efforts required to maintain them, and the vital role these historic structures continue to play in modern wildfire detection and firefighting operations. Powell is a member of the Northwest Montana Lookout Association. This talk will be on Sunday, February 1st.
“Blackfoot Place Map Plots a Free-ranging Culture” will be the third talk by Souta Calling. Her mission has been to map the sites of traditional Blackfoot places of creation, prehistoric presence, and animal management, among other topics. This talk will be on Sunday, February 15th.
All talks begin at 2:00 pm and are followed by social time.
