Teakettle Heights, a subdivision on what was once the location for the Columbia Falls Aluminum Co. has been approved by the Columbia Falls planning commission and the city council. This might be of interest to those in nearby Kalispell looking for a new residence in the region.
This subdivision will offer 421 residential units on 78.05 acres just south of Aluminum Drive. It is considered a subdivision that is one of the largest evert approved in the city. Mayor Donald Barnhart said that it will be able to address the housing needs of the community with its offerings of various types of units, from single family residences to apartments, and is the best solution yet proposed to address this issue. There will be 240 multi-family apartment units, 56 single-family townhouse sublots, and 125 single-family residences on detached lots.

The developer will be required to provide a buffer 10 feet wide along the western side of the property between the neighborhood of Aluminum City and the apartment buildings that will be 45 feet tall. There will be five shrubs and one tree every 30 linear feet. In addition, the apartment buildings will be oriented such that an even greater distance will be created between those buildings and single-family residences already in the area.
