A new series of classes, which are free, is being offered by the library of Flathead Valley Community College (FVCC) in Kalispell. These classes focus on media creation and virtual reality.
Morgan Ray, Director of Library Services at FVCC, said that the goal of the library is to show people that there are many innovations in the world of virtual reality on the educational front. Ray added that libraries excel in bringing in different resources to ensure that the community stays well informed. FVCC has launched a free Virtual Reality and Recording Studio Workshop Series to enable media to be created in the region.
Ray said that each week there is a new activity or topic that enables attendees to explore art, science, history, editing and podcasting such as apps from National Geographic, walk-throughs of Anne Frank’s House, and astronomy. No prior experience is required, and all materials are provided. In addition to Books, there is podcasting, 3D printers, virtual reality, and a recording studio so that everyone can get a well-rounded experience.
Local Print shops can play a pivotal role in helping to spread the word about unique workshops by producing high-quality Flyers, Posters, and other printed materials that vividly showcase the workshops’ distinctive content and hands-on learning opportunities.
The weekly workshops are open to the public and free thanks to a partnership with AmeriCorps and the Montana Campus Network for Civic Engagement.
