A Columbia fundraiser will lend veterans a helping hand in facing the challenges that often come up after they have hung up their uniform.
Those who lace up their sneakers for the Hope for Heroes 5k will be doing their part to alleviate food insecurity for local veterans, and all assistance will be appreciated. Both in-person and virtual options are on offer, and anyone who would like to get involved can walk, run, jog, or use a mobility assistance device such as a wheelchair or rollator to complete the course.
The activity will be set up in Cosmo Park, and COVID prevention measures will be followed. The recipient of the proceeds from the day will be the local food bank, which will use it to help fund its VIP Veteran Pack Program. This ensures that former military members have nutritious food such as nuts, vegetables, fruit, and entrees, as well as toiletries and other self-care items.
One of the ways the organizers of a function like this often choose to thank the public for getting involved is to present them with finisher’s medals, T-shirts, hoodies, water bottles, and other gear printed with its Logo Design. These can all be ordered from an area printing services company.
The date for the 2021 Hope for Heroes 5K will be June 26. Anyone who would like to register is encouraged to do so early.
