Columbia walk welcomes both new and experienced birders

The Columbia Audubon Society works to educate the public about birds and other wildlife, and it has an activity on offer for the community that may be of interest to beginner and experienced birders alike.

The organization’s First Friday Bird Hike will visit the 3M Wetlands in early November. Held early in the morning when birds are active, the meet-up point will be the Songbird Station parking lot.

Participants will follow a 1.75-mile route along a flat gravel trail and are advised to wear waterproof shoes. Since it is anticipated that it will be a blend of experienced and new birders, it will provide an opportunity for the newbies to learn about their feathered friends and how to find them. Those with experience may be able to spot a lifer, and at the end of the walk, everyone can mix and mingle over donuts and coffee at Songbird Station.

A walk, workshop, or other function can make learning about nature fun, and it can also provide a way for the participants to meet others who are also interested. Custom prepared Promotional Products such as species checklists, simple field guides, pin back buttons, and more can all be prepared by a local printer.

The Columbia Audubon Society will welcome area birders on Friday, November 6. It will hit the trail at 8:00 am.
