Those who would like to learn more about modern apiary methods will be able to do so when they attend a day of learning at Columbia’s Animal Science Research Center next month.
Boone Regional Beekeepers and the Great Plains Master Beekeeping program have joined forces to offer a daylong workshop that can help participants learn the skills and techniques needed to be successful beekeepers. No experience is required to participate, and it will cover many of the aspects of caring for these tiny creatures.
The students will learn about bee physiology, diseases, and what they need to be happy and productive. There will also be a review of the clothing and other equipment apiarists use in their work, and the attendees will also have a chance to try their hand at building a hive. Next, they will be taught how to find the best location for their new hive as well as how to obtain the bees and follow a yearly schedule of tasks to keep them happy.
The registration fee for the workshop includes a beekeeping book, reference guides, as well as snacks and lunch. They will also receive other benefits, and a certificates of completion for this sort of leaning session can be produced by Stationery printers.
