Festival will celebrate Columbia heritage

The Columbia Parks and Recreation Department is presenting the 37th annual Heritage Festival and Craft Show for two days this September.

There is set to be a large number of arts and crafts booths, as well as those from local businesses, and guests may find a great number of items to buy for themselves or for friends. There will also be music and dance performances throughout the day on two stages, food concessions, and historical reenactments. A children's area is expected to feature hayrides, stilts, and hands-on skills such as rope making.

The Lewis and Clark Outpost will show how people lived in the olden days. Guests can also take tours of the Mapelwood Home and the Boone County Historical Museum and Village. Other activities during the day will include ghost story telling.

Interested artisans can rent space at the festival for $80 up until September 10th. Sponsorships are also available, and organizers are still looking for volunteers to help ensure the event runs smoothly.

The festival is a popular venue for Columbia artisans to showcase their works. Many may invest in products from local postcard printing companies, since Postcards can be used by artists for marketing purposes.

The Heritage Festival and Craft show will take place at Nifong Park from September 20th – 21st, and admission is free. For updated information, call 573-874-7460.
