For many fans, there's nothing quite like biting into a freshly picked tomato, and a Columbia venue will soon be offering this experience.
Jefferson Farm and Garden will be celebrating summer's end with its 20th annual Tomato Festival, and it will include hundreds of varieties of this popular fruit. Peppers and tomatillos, which are also the Solanaceae plant family, will be featured as well, and the festivities will run for three hours.
The Festival will provide lots of opportunities to do some taste testing, and those who appreciate life’s spicy side may enjoy the chance to sample some of the world’s hottest peppers. Salsas and other tomato based dishes will be on the menu as well, and anyone interested in learning more about how to successfully grow them in their own home garden can sit in on a presentation. There will be subject matter experts on hand to share their knowledge and answer questions, and the younger attendees can spend some time in the kids’ corner.
Fall is a popular time of the year for agricultural festivals and their outdoor events. A poster printing company can prepare signage and the materials that are suited for use outside, as they can withstand exposure to the elements.
The 20th annual Tomato Festival will wrap up summer in Columbia on September 4th. The free festivities will take place at 4800 New Haven Road.
