Columbia quilters who would like to add some new techniques to their repertoire may want to check out a special activity that will help them to learn more about this popular hobby.
Crafters from a wide area will be descending on the city’s Appletree Quilting Center for its Hands On Van event. Those who are considering purchasing a long arm-style machine will be able to give one a test drive, and the event is open to all levels of experience.
Along with an opportunity to learn more about sewing machines that can be used for quilting projects, Amy Domke, who is a Handi Quilter National Educator, will be on hand to offer tips and teach the fundamentals of using a long arm machine, how to build a design library, using templates, and also how to get started with Pro-Stitcher.
The fee to register for this two-day gathering is $150, and there will be two sets of dates for the public to choose from. The fee includes all the supplies as well as lunch. Workshops like these are of special interest to local crafters, and mailers prepared by an area flyer printing company can be ordered by the host to mail to each person on its customer Mailing list to invite them to take part.
Appletree Quilting Center has scheduled this special event for August 24 and 25. It is located at 2541 Bernadette Drive.
