First responders take on tough tasks as part of their daily working life, and a Columbia conference will offer them some TLC tips.
The First Responder Health, Wellness and Science Seminar is being offered free of charge and it will be filled with learning, discussion and camaraderie. It will answer the question of who provides relief for the first responder in need of support, and a variety of topics will be on the agenda.
The day will open with welcome remarks from the host department before a presentation by Derrick Edwards that will explore the physiological response to stress exposure and how to read one’s symptoms and begin appropriate self-care. The next session will review fire ground contaminants and how to prevent them from impacting the health of the first responder. The role of leadership in the overall health of brigade members is up next, and it will then be time for lunch before the afternoon’s program begins. This will explore mental health and cancer prevention.
Those who register for a seminar or other educational activity may appreciate receiving promotional Pens and Notebooks, as it will make it easier for them to jot down any points they feel are especially important. These can be ordered from a local printing services provider.
This opportunity for Columbia’s first responders to spend some time focusing on their own wellbeing will be held at Stoney Creek Hotel Columbia on August 2nd. It will start at 8:00 am.
