Woodbridge Park in Columbia has re-opened after renovations were made to accommodate children and families with special needs and varying abilities.
The park is located near the
Ronald McDonald house, The University of Missouri Women’s and Children’s Hospital and the Thompson Center for Autism and Neurodevelopmental Disorders.
The city is likely to be using Banners to announce and promote the opening of the park for those who are not aware it’s been renovated.
The park is dedicated to Dr. Leroy Miller. His granddaughter sated that he would be thrilled to see the new renovations that allow the children and families visiting the area to escape their worries even for just a day to enjoy what the park has to offer.
The park’s location is also convenient for families who need to fill time while waiting for a sibling or child to undergo treatments or wait for appointments. It is also a place where local residents can go and enjoy some play time.
The renovations completed include changes including ramps, swings and music therapy. Also included are ground level features and a single table shelter. A walking trail provides easy access to the Ronald McDonald house.
The renovations cost just over $200,000 and were funded by the Cosmopolitan Luncheon Club and the Land and Water Conservation Fund. It was the donation of funds that brought on the idea to make the renovations all-inclusive.
