Uncashed Minnesota tax rebate checks to be reissued

A third check will be cut for those one-time tax rebate Checks from the state of Minnesota that have not found their way to the recipients, or that were received but not cashed.

The Minnesota Department of Revenue will issue replacement tax rebate Checks to citizens who meet income guidelines, starting the end of February, with all of them being sent by mid-March.

Many companies depend on printing services to handle the addressing, envelope stuffing, and posting of their bulk mailings.

In 2023, the Minnesota state legislature approved over $1bn in tax rebates. Checks were sent out to over two million Minnesotans last August and September. For the approximately 150,000 residents of the state who neglected to cash their original Checks, a second round of Checks were sent in November and December.

Both sets of Checks had a 60-day expiration period and were sent by Missoula, Montana-based Submittable Holdings, Inc. This third issuance will be handled directly by the state of Minnesota.

The tax rebates of $260 were sent to those in Princeton and other parts of Minnesota with an adjusted gross income for 2021 of up to $75,000. Jointly filing married couples were eligible for a rebate of $520 if their income was no more than $150,000. Eligible families could claim up to three dependants for a second rebate check, with a total maximum for a couple and their children being $1,300.
