Princeton among states communities eligible to apply for MHC grants

Minnesota Humanities Center (MHC) has made public new grant opportunities potentially available for communities throughout the state, including Princeton.

Funding of $6,299,000, minus allowable administrative fees, has been provided by the Minnesota Legislature from the Legacy Fund to MHC to be used for grants. The Cultural Heritage grants will be made available via an application process open to organizations and individuals throughout the state.

Banner printing services can be instrumental in identifying historic or cultural sites to a community’s visitors.

The CEO of MHC, Kevin Lindsey said:

“In the midst of substantial reduction in funding at the federal level, we know this funding provided by the Minnesota Legislature will be welcome relief to the many wonderful arts and cultural organizations throughout Minnesota.”

Tristy Auger, the MHC Grant Manager, elaborated by explaining that plenty of support is available for applicants, including the MHC website having a frequently asked questions area, as well as the agency hosting a number of virtual information sessions, and the availability of staff members to shepherd organizations and individuals through the application process.

Following the legislative intent, the grants will be used to celebrate, create and teach the culture, art, and heritage of the various cultural groups that are part of Minnesota. This would include historically underrepresented community cultures and heritages, indigenous organizations, veterans, and immigrant communities.

Applications for the MHC grants will be accepted through Monday, December 8.
