As part of its efforts to expand into the North American market EASY BIO, a South Korean nutrition company has started the new year off with the announcement that it has acquired BioMatrix a U.S. feed additive company based in Princeton.
BioMatrix was founded in 1997 and supplies functional feed additives created to increase the efficiency of feed ingredients. The company has also turned its expertise to the animal additives market, leveraging its local networks and accumulated distribution experience.
According to EASY BIO, the acquisition supports its long-held vision of furthering sustainable livestock production. The Seoul-based company has, since its founding in 1988, concentrated on technological innovations to improve livestock production in areas such as cost reduction, antibiotic alternatives and gut health solutions.

The polysaccharide coating technology that BioMatrix has developed provides protection to nutrients that in an animal’s gastrointestinal tract can be easily degraded by microorganisms. EASY BIO intends to use this coating technology on its existing collection of functional feed additives. The company is especially interested in its use in the development of items for ruminants such as cattle.
The technology has already proven commercially successful with the creation and use of “Lipidol Protect” which combines EASY BIO and Pathway USA’s nutrient absorption enhancer “Lipidol” with the coating technology of BioMatrix. This hybrid product has garnered positive market feedback as well as commercial traction in the U.S. and UK.
