It has been announced that starting March 1, those parking their car at the St. Cloud Regional Airport for more than two hours will be charged for long-term parking in the amount of $5 per day.
Princeton users of the Airport who are dropping off and picking up passengers will still be able to park in paved and gravel parking areas and go inside with them without being charged, so long as they do so within the two-hour limit. The system will be managed via a pay-by-plate parking kiosk.
Printing services offer signage can set out new policies like this.
Kiosks will be both inside and outside, one each, and each will accept payment by credit card only. The touchscreens will prompt drivers to select a length of stay, enter their license plate number, and a payment method. The kiosks will also accept the Parkmobile app.
The St. Cloud Regional Airport Authority issued a press release explaining that the charge is to lighten the load for the City of St. Cloud when it comes to the airport’s operating expenses. The change will shift the burden from the city’s property tax payers to those utilizing the Airport parking.
According to Brian Myres, with the Airport Authority Board, the user fee is also expected to help reduce the number of cars in the lots during peak flight periods. This should ensure those who need the space will be able to access it.
