Phillips Distilling grows with purchase of two new brands

Princeton-based Phillips Distilling Company has entered an agreement with Beam Suntory to buy Kamora and Leroux, two of its brands.

The upcoming purchase will solidify Phillips Distilling’s position as the leader in the cordials-liqueurs market. The company already has a reputation as a pioneer in spirits innovations and breakthrough flavors in North America. In the 1930s, it introduced Peppermint Schnapps to America, and in 1984 it brought out Root Beer Schnapps. The company’s Butter Ripple and Sour Puss brands are among the best-selling liqueurs in Canada.

When companies purchase brands, they may choose to order Promotional Products with the new brand’s name to disperse to clients.

The 2021 edition of Adams Liquor Handbook, states that the Cordials & Liqueurs category has undergone steady growth over the last dozen years or so.

Kamora markets the most popular choices in coffee liqueur in the US and Canada. Its liqueur is made with caramel-, vanilla- and chocolate-infused coffee beans. The other brand Phillips has agreed to buy, Leroux, is a brand of cordials that can trace its roots back through more than four generations of the Leroux family. The company has a line of 19 liqueur varieties along with eight flavored brandies.

The seller of Kamora and Leroux, Beam Suntory, is a company created in 2014 when the innovator in Japanese whisky joined forces with the world’s foremost bourbon producer.

The transfer is anticipated to be finalized on December 1.
