Edina high schoolers will have a chance to get started as entrepreneurs this May as the Edina Chamber of Commerce holds its fifth annual Shark Tank event.
The competition, based on the television franchise of the same name, is open to Edina High School students. Students will present their business concepts to business professionals and experts from the business community. The “sharks” will decide on which proposals to give cash prizes to help turn into reality, with the top presenter crowned this year’s Shark Tank Champion. There will also be an award for Teacher of the Year, reflecting instructors who have made a difference to business-minded students.
Edina Shark Tank will also include a pop-up market of displays from sponsors of the event. Educational events like this often use methods like poster printing and visual presentations to help better communicate information. The event is co-hosted by the BIG Innovation Lab. The Chamber of Commerce states that its goals for the event are welcoming students to professional life:
“We take pride in contributing to an event that opens doors for the upcoming generation of Edina residents, who will soon make valuable contributions to our business community.”
The 2025 installment of Edina Shark Tank will take place on the evening of May 5 at Southview Middle School, and is free to attend for students.
