An Edina tradition will return this August, as the Lighthouse Night and Torchlight Concert return for more summer fun.
The event will aim to bring visitors back in time, with early-1900s entertainment like organ grinders, slight-of-hand magicians, and a classic Wurlitzer band organ, as well as vintage vehicles like penny-farthing bicycles and a Model T car to look at. Past editions have included attractions like a barbershop quartet and remote-controlled boats on the lake. Some prices will also be going back in time, such as 25-cent ice cream cones.
As dusk falls, the evening will include a concert under only the light of torches. Fife & Drums will lead into a performance by the First John Philip Sousa Memorial Band, which will be performing classical numbers and patriotic songs. The concert will conclude with a fireworks display scored to the sounds of “Stars and Stripes Forever.”
The annual event is sponsored by the Memorial Band to highlight traditional music and culture, alongside other performances around Minnesota. Events like this often use methods like flyer printing and social media to help raise awareness and bring the community together.
The 2025 Lighthouse Night and Torchlight Concert will take place at Centennial Lakes Park in Edina on the evening of August 10. Attendance is free and the event aims to be family-friendly.
