CONsole Room, a convention focused on fans of British sci-fi series Doctor Who, will be coming to the Edina area this January with a new hybrid format.
The convention will feature a number of guests connected to the long-running series, headlined by actresses Jo Martin, who played the Fugitive Doctor, and Wendy Padbury, who served as the Second Doctor’s companion back in 1968 and has stayed involved in the franchise since. Guests will be available for signings and also for more informal interaction as part of a VIP Mixer.
There will also be an assortment of programming including panels related to Doctor Who as well as broader topics of science fiction and British television. Attendees can browse a marketplace of collectibles and fan-made goods, or take part in tabletop gaming hosted by Twin Cities Game Fest and Midwest Jedi.
This year’s event will feature a hybrid format to allow for accessibility and engagement from fans near and far. Panels will be live-streamed on YouTube and Discord, and there will be virtual spaces for interactive engagement. Modern fan conventions use the Internet alongside time-tested methods like poster printing to help connect with the community in nearby areas like Edina and Minneapolis as well as the wider fandom.
The 2025 edition of CONsole Room will take place from January 23 to 25 at the Hilton MSP Airport in nearby Bloomington.
