The race will be an all-ages event across a half-mile track. There will be staggered start times for runners under the age of 16. Awards will go to the top three fastest runners in each age group, as well as prizes for the best costumes. Costume awards include Eye Catcher, Fastest-Looking, and Partner/Group Costumes. There will also be an untimed run or walk that begins ahead of the timed races.
The Fun Run event will also include a number of family activities at the finish line. There will be free face painting and hot chocolate, as well as food trucks and a popcorn stand. Community organizations and partners will have booths for services and products aimed at local kids.
Community run events like this often use poster printing and social media to help attract participants and spectators. Promotional material for the Fun Run emphasizes the community nature and the appeal to children, stating:
“Whether you’re a little ghost, a tween superhero, a teen basketball player, or an adult cowboy, there’s a place for you to join the fun. It’s a fantastic way to get moving, show off your creativity, and enjoy a lively community event together.”
The 2026 Costume Fun Run will take place at Walnut Park in Edina on the morning of Saturday, October 24, beginning at 10:00 am.
