The Edina Education Fund will be holding its annual Band Together event this August, aiming to make it the biggest fundraiser yet for mental health support in Edina public schools.
The fundraiser takes place alongside EHS Get Connected Day and features various local musical artists performing throughout the day, representing a variety of styles and genres. Local residents are encouraged to bring a lawn chair and blanket to sit and enjoy the tunes. There will also be food trucks and family-friendly games and activities on site. There will be a raffle for prizes, with money going towards the Education Fund.
The Fund aims to raise a total of $105, 000 this year, with the goal of providing mental health and wellness support to Edina student, teachers, and school staff. Previous events have helped to bring a professional therapist to every Edina Public School building, from early years to high school, and the Fund is looking to maintain these programs as well as add further support for uninsured or underinsured students. Funds will be collected through donations and raffle tickets as well as sponsorships from local businesses, which are available at various levels. Events such as this, often using brochure printing or speeches to describe the cause they are supporting, can make a serious impact on student experience.
The 2024 edition of Band Together will take place outdoors at Edina High School on August 22.
