Working up an appetite in Chanhassen

An event in Chanhassen will give participants a chance to work up an appetite for their Thanksgiving dinner.

For the eighth year running, Chanhassen is holding the Chanhassen Turkey Trot 5K Run & Walk. The course starts and finishes at Chanhassen High School, and comprises of two loops—a short course for kids, and a longer course for those running the 5K.

The event is packed full of family fun. At the finish line, participants will find donuts provided by The Baker’s Wife Pastry Shop, and will have their choice of either a long-sleeved T-shirt or a fleece pullover, both decorated with the race logo.

Participants can have their packets mailed to them for $17.00, or pick them up the day before the race, from 11.00 am until 6.00 pm, at DICK’S House of Sports at 12547 Ridgedale Center in Minnetonka. They may pick up packets on race day, but that is likely to be crowded.

The race is a fundraiser on behalf of Secondhand Hounds, a nonprofit animal rescue organization. It provides at risk animals with daily necessities, veterinary care, and safe shelter, while it works to place them in their forever homes.

The race is on Thanksgiving Day, November 23. Racers can pick up their packets from 7.00 am until 8.00 am. At 8.15 am, the Kids Dash starts, and the 5K begins at 8.30 am. Participants have 1 hour and 20 minutes to finish the course. Organizers of events like these can work with banner printing services to create course markers.
