An annual event has returned to Chanhassen to celebrate the winter.
The City of Chanhassen recently announced the date of the February Festival. This is the 31st year for the festivities, which will take place in Lake Ann Park. The Rotary Club of Chanhassen is supporting the fun.
Festivalgoers will find an ice-fishing contest, door prizes, drink and food concessions, bonfires, a medallion hunt, and family activities. Prizes for this year’s ice fishing will total more than $6,000, and will be awarded to those who catch the 50 biggest fish by weight. The catch can be of any species it is legal to fish. If there is a tie, the person with the first entry will win, and the person with the second entry will win the smaller prize.
People who want to fish must register, either in person or online, and their contest tickets must be attached to their fishing gear during the contest.
The Rotary Club still needs volunteers to drill holes in the ice for the fishing contest, and to run the sale of hot apple cider and hot chocolate.
The February Festival is set for Saturday, February 3, from 8.00 am until 4.00 pm. Almost all the activities are free, including entry to the event, except for the fishing contest. Tickets are $10 each, with a limit of two tickets for each person. When events like this are planned, organizers will often use flyer printing to create handouts promoting them.
