An upcoming concert in Chanhassen will give rock fans a chance to hear the hits of a legend once again.
“The Winwood Sessions – Decades of Songs from Steve Winwood” is coming up at the Chanhassen Dinner Theatres, with Mick Sterling paying tribute to Winwood.
In many cases, the original bands that inspired tribute acts have broken up or lost members, and their hits were written before some of today’s audiences were born. Tribute bands give them a chance to hear great music from decades ago.
In the 1960s and 1970s, Steve Winwood was a member of some of the most influential bands in rock, including Traffic, Blind Faith, and The Spencer Davis Group. He also has had an outstanding solo career and is recognized as one of rock’s greatest instrumentalists and songwriters. Among his most recognized hits are “Back in the Highlife Again,” “Holding On,” and “Roll with It.”
Mick Sterling will be in charge of bringing Winwood’s music to life, leading a band comprising keyboards, strings, horns, guest vocalists, and background singers. Sterling is the creator of a concept called “Mick Sterling Presents,” a concert series in which he presents the music of the artists who have influenced him.
The program is Sunday, May 7 at 7:00 pm, with dinner at 5:00 pm. Theaters can use brochure printing to create programs for patrons at their shows.
