Aimée Lee & the Superstars will be at the Chanhassen Dinner Theatres with their show “Rainy Days and Mondays – the Music of the Carpenters.” The Carpenters, a soft-rock duo, were the highest selling performers of the 1970s. Among the familiar songs fans will hear are “For All We Know,” “Superstar,” “Mr. Postman,” “We’ve Only Just Begun,” “Close to You,” and many more.
Richard and Karen Carpenter were brother and sister who were born in Connecticut but got their start in the music business in Downey, California, which became their home base. Both were instrumentalists as well as vocalists. Richard had been playing the piano since he was a child, and Karen became an exceptional drummer. They sold over 100 million records worldwide in their 14-year career.
Aimée Lee captures the essence of Karen Carpenter perfectly. She has supporting vocalists and a 12-piece back-up band that all come together to recreate the familiar Carpenters sound. A review of Lee’s tribute says:
“I love this show so much! Aimee’s voice is so perfect! Harmonies are lush and beautiful! Band is world-class!”
“Rainy Days and Mondays” will run November 17, 18, and 19, with dinner at 6.00 pm and the show following at 8.00 pm. Informative programs are popular with audiences who attend events like these, and organizers can create them using brochure printing.
