A gifted artist will pay tribute to a legendary singer/actress soon.
Jennifer Grimm will appear at the Chanhassen Dinner Theatres in “Jennifer Grimm Sings Judy Garland.” Grimm’s presentation of Garland’s showmanship and musical ability is such that the Judy Garland Museum™️ chose Grimm to perform at Judy Garland’s 100th Birthday Celebration.
Grimm is backed up by an 11-piece band as she sings classic Garland songs like “Zing! Went the Strings of My Heart,” “You Made Me Love You,” and, naturally, the legendary “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” from “The Wizard of Oz.”
Both Garland and Grimm are natives of Minnesota, and both were born into families who were in vaudeville. Their lifelong exposure to theater gives both artists the ability to command the stage. In addition, Garland’s music and the era in which she sang fits perfectly with Grimm’s vocal abilities. She is able to handle easily both the tender ballads and showstopping tunes that were a hallmark of Judy Garland’s style.
Grimm’s backing group comprises some of the finest musicians in the Midwest, including Kenni Holmen, who plays lead tenor sax; upright bassist Gary Raynor; and pianist Dan Chouinard. When events like this are performed, audiences enjoy learning about the performers. Organizers can help by using brochure printing to create informative programs for the event.
Grimm will celebrate Judy Garland on August 14 at 7:00 pm.
