One of the joys of summer is being able to enjoy performances outdoors, and residents of Chanhassen have that option.
The Summer Concert Series kicked off in June and will finish in August, with two performances and a date saved in case of inclement weather. The concerts are held at City Center Park Plaza, and the shows run from 6:30 pm until 8:00 pm. Food trucks will be on hand.
The first performance is by the Capital Sons, a Minneapolis-based rock band who play original material. Their themes include introspection, loss, love, and revolution. They cite bands like Pearl Jam, The Rolling Stones, and Led Zeppelin as major influences on their music. At the 2020 Everything Minnesota Music Honorees, the Capital Sons were voted Hardest-Working Band. They released an EP, “Capital Sons,” in 2005 to critical acclaim.
The food truck on hand for the Capital Sons concert is D&D Goodies, which sells Vietnamese food like wontons, dumplings, and eggrolls.
The second show features Todd ’n’Tina, a Minnesota-based duo who perform material suitable for children. One of the light-hearted songs on their digital album “Kaboom,” released in 2023, is “Pirates & Parrots,” about a boy who has pirates in his school class. The food truck at this concert is Kona Ice.
The Capital Sons appear August 3, and Todd ’n’Tina will perform the Thursday after on August 10. Colorful Posters created by concert organizers using poster printing can publicize events like this.
