An annual show is returning to Chanhassen thanks to popular demand.
“Kickin’ It Irish” is a show suitable for every member of the family, and that is now a Chanhassen Dinner Theatres tradition. The performance highlights both contemporary and traditional Irish step dancing, with music provided by world-class musicians who are experts in song. Instruments used include the African djembe, accordion, guitar, fiddle, flute, whistle, and Irish bodhran.
The show is led by Cormac Ó Sé, a native of Dublin, Ireland, who was a member of the original “Riverdance” company. He is backed up by 18 champion dancers from his celebrated studio. “Riverdance” premiered in 1994 at the Eurovision Song Contest, featuring Michael Flatley, Jean Butler, and Anúna, a vocal group. The show has gone on to become a worldwide sensation over nearly three decades since.
Showgoers can also enjoy a meal before the show. Choices include beef, chicken, and fish, as well as vegetarian and vegan options.
This exploration of Gaelic music and dance was devised by the creators of the “Celtic Holiday Hooley” and “Get Up Your Irish” shows. “Kickin’ It Irish” is coming to the Dinner Theatres for one performance only, March 13. The Main Stage will be the location of the show, which begins at 7:30 pm, with dinner at 5:30 pm.
