Chanhassen winter party returns

An annual festival is coming back to Chanhassen to warm up the coldest months.

The 32nd annual February Festival is held on Lake Ann, which is located at Lake Ann Park. The fun includes a medallion hunt, door prizes, drink and food concessions, an ice fishing contest, and free activities for the family.

The ice fishing contest will award more than $6,000 in prize money. The winners will be those who catch the 50 biggest (by weight) fish in any category of legal species. If there are any ties, the contestant who caught their fish first will win first place, and the person who caught the second fish wins second. Only one prize will be given per person.

The ice fishing contest has rules everyone should know. The holes will be predrilled, and depth finders can be used during the contest, but underwater cameras are limited to use before fishing starts. All contestants 16 and older must have a fishing license, and no enclosures or fishing sheds may be inside the contest area.

Another major component of the festival is the Medallion Hunt. The city will hide an acrylic medallion in one of its public parks, and post clues to its location on the website starting at 9.00 am on January 27.

The February Festival is scheduled for February 1, from 12.00 pm until 3.00 pm. Poster printing can be a cost effective advertising method for annual events with a local reach.
