As soon as December gets underway, Chanhassen will host the city’s annual tree lighting event.
The holiday celebration will take place at City Center Park on the corner of Market Boulevard and West 78th Street. Festivities for this highly attended event include live reindeer, a gingerbread house, refreshments, and the lighting of the holiday tree. Santa Claus will be the special guest, much to the delight of the children. Flyer printing for events like this can be a great tool for affordably marketing the information to the community and visitors.
A gingerbread decorating contest will take place at the festival. Participants are encouraged to be creative in their construction and decorations. Any structure may be entered in the competition, such as houses, schools, churches, high rises, or stores.
The entry fee is $5 and the submission deadline is November 29 by 3:00 p.m. The winner categories include most difficult and most creative. The submissions will be on display during the tree lighting ceremony and the winners will be announced soon after. The prize pack is valued at $100.
This free event is co-sponsored by Buy Chanhassen, The Mustard Seed, Southwest Metro Chamber of Commerce, and the City of Chanhassen. More information may be found at the event website.
The celebration takes place on Saturday, December 1, beginning at 5:00 pm.
